I bought mine 2 or 3 yrs ago and I only have one thing I really don’t like about it. It’s not the machine you want if you have long legs or bad ankles. The seat is way to close to the gas pedal. It’s very uncomfortable if your out just running around. When I finally got to take a break from it my legs and ankles killed me. I’ve been online looking for a handicap throttle cable and haven’t found one yet.

We originally bought our Sidekick for my wife to drive around our small acreage. At first I thought “toy”. Boy was I wrong. This thing works like an ox! Hauling firewood, hay bales, fencing, chainsaws you name it the Sidekick does it. I use it way more than she does. I have bad knees but it’s easy in easy out so I use it to reduce walking. I even used it to pull our 3000 lb horse trailer from the pasture to the barn.
Some have expressed safety concerns but I find using simple caution and common sense should mitigate any concerns. Should not be driven by kids or those prone to reckless behavior. This is a serious working machine not a toy.
It’s not a thing of beauty to look at (until you see what it can do) but who cares. I need function not fancy. If you have serious work to do, the Sidekick will get ‘er done and you can have some fun at the same time.

I think the XG850 is a accident waiting to happen..that throttle control is dangerous and almost impossible to safely use off idle....Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt or worse.

I have a 2019 Sidekick, used for farm and yard chores. I love the acceleration and solid build. The combination of price, warranty and strong reliability from previous Kubota UTV’s were the points that sold me, as well as comfort in driving, as I am only 5’2”. The only thing I would change is the acceleration in reverse. I have to be very careful as I back out of the garage or in a tight spot, as it can get out of control quickly. My husband dislikes it for checking cattle, as it’s a bit hard to ease around in, although I do alright with it. We also have a 825i Gator and a Kawasaki Mule pro-fxt. He prefers the Mule overall for comfort, build and easy shifting. I actually almost bought one, but I was a little short for it. I really liked the Can-Am defender but it was quite a bit more expensive than the Kubota.

I just bought one. Not a farmer but a retired army veteran that’s slowly falling apart physically. Over 50 and have mobility issues etc.

First of I was surprised that they offered a military discount. I really appreciated that and will be telling other veterans as well.

I can cut grass with a zero turn mower and have to use electric equipment for trimming edging etc. I did not want a golf cart to get by with. I love the work bed. At 40mph I live in a small country town and added the turn signal kit and drive to the local hardware store and they load my lawn fertilizer, lime, weed and feed etc all in the bed. I bought a pull behind spreader and cut the bags on the bed and it falls into the spreader. No lifting required. I move around the yard using a grabber to get pine cones and sticks or trim a bush and put in the bed and can use the dump bed to empty at the corner for the city to pickup.

It’s a oversized toy for me that allows me to do simple things that most people take for granted. When you can’t tie your own shoes or button a shirt because of issues it’s humbling as a man.

This allows me to adapt, improvise and overcome many obstacles. Do I still need help sometimes? Yes I do, but my neighbors don’t mind they have told me to ask but as a army veteran that’s hard. I’m used to being the leader that helped others. The neighbors love riding over in the side kick in fact one as just bought one after helping me a few times. The neighbor hunts and has farmlands that he rents out but goes down to hunt and fish the property and loves it.

I believe that the design team hit it out the ball park. Tough and strong for professional heavy work with the creature comforts for those needing more than a golf cart or a 4 wheeler.

I looked at the John Deere Gators and was not impressed by the design of creature comforts or price. I checked the Kawasaki mule as well and was happy with it. I was told about the new all terrain Kubota’s to look at and they are just the ticket for me.

Love trading local and they delivered it and went over operating and maintenance and told me any problems they would pickup it up and service or repair at no extra cost for pickup and delivery as I don’t have a truck or trailer to haul it in.

Again more than impressed with Kubota and the local business and the discount was a nice gesture for 21 years of service. I might just start hanging around his shop more as a free salesman for these things. I believe in them that much and word of mouth means more than a picture or an add sometimes. If a old broken down army tanker can utilize this and show them the little other things that I’ve learned with mine then from a commercial business contractors to farmers to just the elderly that need it to replace what their bodies just can’t handle anymore. I call it paying it forward and still feel like I can help people. Plus free help it’s hard to turn away.

I own one of these Steve and I think your findings are spot on. The doors however do their job. With a 40mph machine that's built more like a side by side tractor than a Baja machine, the doors do their part by keeping the briars, branches, mud and water away from the passengers. Water tight? No. For those who have the money and the desire to play hard and fast, this machine will probably never live up to your expectations. But for those who need a machine to get the job done and when need be, get somewhere quick, you can't beat this quality Kubota machine.
