The presentation of the Prowler Pro

The vehicle is powered by an 812cc EFI three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The block comes from the Chinese company Chery, but seasoned with Arctic Cat sauce, which retouched the fuel intake, exhaust and engine mapping. It provides a modest 50 horsepower and 48 pounds of torque. However, the intention of the manufacturer was not to deliver raw power, but to offer the best possible operating silence. For this purpose, the motor called whisper quiet, has been designed with an air intake that dampens sound, motor mounts that reduce noise and vibration and a calibrated muffler to eliminate noise as much as possible. The results are convincing, as the Prowler Pro’s motor emits a noise level of 58 dB, making it the quietest in the industry. The transmission is of the CVT type and was revised in 2022 to increase its performance. The driver-selectable AWD system is supported by a self-locking front differential and a rear that can be unlocked (Turf mode).

The suspension is independent at all four wheels and has 10 inches of travel in the front and 9.5 inches in the rear. This was recalibrated in 2022 and the improvement in comfort is appreciable. Ground clearance has been increased to up to 13 inches. This vehicle is capable of carrying up to 1000 pounds in its tilt bed, which is the same load that Ford allows you to put in the box of the F150. Also, the towing capacity is 2000 pounds.

Access to the cabin is very easy, as the door opens onto a flat floor from one side of the vehicle to the other. The space offered is spacious and the use of a gear selector on the steering column frees up maximum space for the 3rd passenger in the middle. The flat bench seat can seat a third passenger thanks to the seat belt in place, but there are no grab handles or center head restraints. However, Arctic Cat has made a lot of effort for storage, such as a sealed space is provided behind the seat backrest, closed spaces are provided under the seat and in the dashboard in front of the passenger. Said seat is straight and the padding is firm.

Driving impression

Taking a seat on board the Prowler Pro is child’s play, all you have to do is open the half-door, put your foot on the floor and slide yourself into the bench seat. Steering wheel clearance from the driver and legroom are very generous. Once behind the wheel, visibility all around the vehicle is very good.

When starting the engine, you can hear it turn and start up discreetly. As you begin to move forward, you realize that you hear more tire noise than mechanical noise! This means that his nickname of Whisper quiet is not usurped. Obviously, with a power of 50 horsepower with a vehicle of this size, do not expect breathtaking performance, but it is still adequate for the intended use of the vehicle. Within a group of a few people on the trail, I could maintain the pace at 50 km/h without problems. On a forest road, with a bit of patience, the Prowler Pro will be able to reach a speed of around 90 km/h, which is very respectable for a utility SSV.

The Prowler Pro originally came with stiff suspension that was designed for work first. However, Arctic Cat thoroughly revised the calibration of the front suspension last year in order to soften the damping. By riding the trails at a good pace, we have to admit that the results are convincing. We still feel the bumps, but the vehicle is not brutal in its reactions and the comfort is of good quality for the category. The power steering is direct and adds to the driving pleasure of this vehicle. On the other hand, the seat offers comfort and is slippery like a school bus seat. When driving on the trail, you slide on the bench seat and look for a place to hold on and stay in place. The builder could use a non-slip seat cover.

The Prowler Pro is a very efficient utility vehicle that can also be fun to use on trails for hiking or long-distance work crew trips.

For Model Year 2022, Arctic Cat is enhancing its off-road offering with new products, significant enhancements to current models, and new technology. Announced in April, the all-new Alterra 600 was built from the ground-up, featuring an all-new engine, drivetrain and chassis to deliver increased power, better handling, more durability and easier servicing. The vehicle’s all-new 600cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine — built by Arctic Cat in the United States — offers 45 horsepower and complements its all-new chassis with a lower center of gravity for incredible balance, increased stability, and a performance-oriented ride experience. Its CVT system features a set of Arctic Cat-tuned CVTech Trailbloc drive and Invance driven clutches for increased performance, smooth low-speed engagement, and longer belt life. The ATV was thoughtfully designed with a new steering geometry for more agility, an exhaust that is routed down and out of the middle of the vehicle to keep heat off the rider, electronic 4WD engagement for switching from two- to four-wheel drive, and easily accessible storage under the handlebars. The Alterra 600 is available in four different models: EPS, XT, LTD and SE.*

Arctic Cat has also made significant improvements to the three-person Prowler Pro and six-person Prowler Pro Crew side-by-sides for Model Year 2022. The Prowler Pro is known for its quiet 50-horsepower, 812cc EFI engine, comfortable ride, unmatched capabilities, ample storage, and durability. To build upon these features, the 2022 models feature a new suspension with more ground clearance — up to 13 inches — to better navigate worksite obstructions or trail hazards. Operators will enjoy consistent performance with faster acceleration, smoother power delivery, and a throttle response that will not fade over time. Arctic Cat also improved the engine cooling system to reduce fan run time and enhance engine performance. All models are equipped with an aggressive new bumper with integrated headlight protection and new aluminum, seven-spoke wheels that provide the perfect finishing touch. 

The Prowler Pro and Crew are available in three models:

• EPS in Medium Green.
• XT in Phantom Grey featuring a premium front bumper, Medium Green springs, 4,500-lb. Warn^® winch, LED-accented front lights, and standard roof.
• LTD in Fossil with color-matched Spark Orange front bumper, springs and ROPS; premium seats; 4,500-lb. WARN Winch; LED-accented front lights; standard roof and overhead storage console.

The Wildcat™ XX side-by-side was built for a superior ride in every aspect and has the only true trailing-arm rear suspension in its class. Its off-road racing-inspired suspension system features standard 30-inch tires and heavy-duty components to deliver exceptional handling and more than 18 inches of travel in the front and rear. The FOX^® 2.5 PODIUM QS3 Shocks with Bottom-Out Control are precision-tuned at the factory, with the flexibility to absorb and smooth out the most challenging rides. The Wildcat XX’s powerful 130 horsepower, 998cc three-cylinder EFI engine is the highest horsepower, naturally aspirated engine in its class, offering unmatched power to the ground for an exhilarating ride experience. The Wildcat XX is available in three models:

Three new Wildcat side-by-sides headline the latest 2017 model releases: the two-occupant Wildcat X EPS and Wildcat X Limited EPS, plus the four-occupant Wildcat 4X EPS. All three models feature an entirely new RG PRO rear suspension package that was designed in partnership with racing legend Robby Gordon and aimed at professional-level riders who demand the ultimate big bump off-road performance.

The innovative X models also feature new race-inspired ROPS cage; KING aluminum gas shocks; custom cast-aluminum KMC wheels; and a host of chassis improvements for pro-level performance. Arctic Cat HDX 500 XT

Now in its second year with all-new bodywork, improved seating comfort and truck-inspired technology, the 2017 Arctic Cat HDX 500 is already renowned for its bold direction in 3-person utility versatility and its place as class and value-leader.

Power for the new HDX comes from the liquid-cooled H1 443cc SOHC 4-stroke engine with closed-loop Electronic Fuel Injection for optimal performance and economy. It feeds the Duramatic Automatic transmission with High/Low/Reverse/Park and dynamic engine braking, with selectable electronic 2WD/4WD adds go-anywhere ease and versatility.

The chassis features a ROPS-certified and Wildcat-inspired round tubecanopy. The fully-independent, double A- arm front and rear suspensions boast 10 in. of travel, while a full 10 in. of ground clearance and a rear-mounted swaybar deliver an enhanced ride quality.

Key features that highlight the HDX 500 XT include cast-aluminum wheels and Duro Kaden tires; dual halogen headlights with LED accents; and comes in Team Arctic Green and Black.

Arctic Cat HDX 700 XT EPS

From loading and hauling, to dumping and towing, the 2017 Arctic Cat HDX 700 XT EPS is built to tackle jobs with the most usable features and 3-person comfort available anywhere. It’s a 3-rider pickup truck that turns chores into fun, and adventure into relaxation.

Power comes from the liquid-cooled H1 700 SOHC 4-stroke engine with the spot-on calibration of a closed-loop Electronic Fuel Injection for maximum performance and mileage. That power transfers through the Duramatic Automatic transmission, which features High/Low/Reverse/Park. The front locking 4WD differential is activated with an all-in-one 2WD/4WD/Differential rocker switch button for quick and simple shifts.

These key features are matched by driver-friendly Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS) that begins at engine idle to provide significantly reduced steering effort when in 4WD, especially when the differential lock is engaged. Arctic Cat EPS reduces the torque necessary to steer the HDX when changing direction with a loaded cargo box or navi-gating tough obstacles like rocks, deep mud or logs. The result is a light steering input effort, but with enough feedback so the driver senses the tire contact patch in relation to the terrain.

The chassis features a Wildcat-inspired round tube canopy. The fully-independent, double A-arm front and rear suspensions boast 10 in. of travel with adjustable FOX FLOAT coil-over shocks for comfort and control. Arctic Cat HDX CREW 700 XT EPS

The all-new 2017 Arctic Cat HDX Crew 700 XT adds six-occupant versatility to the class-leading comfort, features and truck-like usability of the HDX line of ROVs. For riders who want the versatility to haul lots of gear and people, the new Crew sets benchmarks for comfort, space and usability.

Power comes from the liquid-cooled 500 4-stroke engine with the spot-on calibration of a closed-loop Electronic Fuel Injection for maximum performance and mileage. That power transfers through the Duramatic Automatic transmission,which features High/Low/Reverse/Park. The front locking 4WD differential is activated with an all-in-one 2WD/4WD/Differential rocker switch button for quick and simple shifts.

The Prowler 500 comes equipped with halogen lights and a digital gauge. A full assortment of accessories is available, including front/rear bumpers, winch, plows and more.

Arctic Cat Prowler 700 XT EPS

When it comes to ROV versatility, performance and quality, the 2017 Arctic Cat Prowler 700 XT EPS hits all the targets: It delivers first-class body styling; the most rider-friendly features; unmatched durability; and a proven chassis and engine package. The result is a do-it-all utility side-by-side that delivers sporting fun with the comfort convenience that riders expect from their cars and trucks.

Power comes from the liquid-cooled H1 700 4-stroke engine with the spot-on calibration of a closed-loop Electronic Fuel Injection for maximum performance and mileage. That power transfers through the Duramatic Automatic transmission, which features High/Low/ Reverse/Park. The chassis features a Wildcat- inspired round tube canopy. Arctic Cat Prowler 1000 XT EPS

For riders who demand maximum power and the most automotive features, the 2017 Arctic Cat Prowler 1000 XT EPS is in a class by itself. Boasting a full array of automotive-inspired features and conveniences, the most powerful model in the Prowler line steps up when other machines step aside.

The burliest engine in the Prowler line powers the 1000 XT: the H2 V-Twin featuring closed-loop EFI and the promise of maximum power for all riding conditions. That class-leading power and torque feed the Duramatic Automatic transmission, which offers High/Low/ Reverse/Park. The front locking 4WD differential is activated with an all-in-one 2WD/4WD/Differential rocker switch button for quick and simple shifts.

Thanks to its driver-friendly Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS) the hard working Prowler changes direction easily and with confidence, whether it’s with a cargo box loaded with 600 lbs. of rock, plowing snow or navigating tough obstacles like rocks, deep mud or logs. The Prowler XT chassis includes fully-independent, double A-arm front and rear suspensions boasting 10 in. of travel, 10 in. of ground clearance, and a rear-mounted swaybar for enhanced ride quality. A rugged, composite tilting cargo box offering 600 lbs. of payload capacity and a pickup-style tailgate backs up a ROPS-certified and Wildcat-inspired round tube canopy.

Additional features include cast-aluminum wheels, Duro Powergrip V2 tires and a rearview mirror. It’s available in Team Arctic Green.

Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail / XT EPS / Limited EPS

With an award-winning design and premium specifications, the 50-inch wide Wildcat Trail family continues to set the industry standard in handling, power to weight, suspension travel and pricing. For 2017 the Wildcat Trail, Wildcat Trail XT EPS and Wildcat Trail Limited EPS continue to set the performance benchmarks in this popular category.

The Wildcat Trail chassis features a 40/60-percent front/rear weight distribution for optimal handling at high speed. The driver and passenger are located 3 inches lower than the competition so you are seated near the low center of gravity, leaving occupants less affected by the movements of the vehicle inspiring greater confidence and control.

With industry-leading 10/10.5 inches of front/rear suspension travel and 10 inches of ground clearance, all Wildcat Trail models are built to deftly navigate trail obstacles. The front and rear double A-arm suspensions have a swaybar that keeps the tires planted while the suspension moves through its travel for unmatched traction and control. Premium FOX nitrogen gas-charged shocks smooth the ride.

Other comfort-and-control features include high back bucket seats with upper body supports, tilt steering, center console sport shifter, digital gauge, rear LED taillights, passenger handhold and 3-point seat belts; plus easy-access hinged doors with industry- leading automotive style handles/latches to compliment the exterior lines.

A 300-lb. payload in the rear cargo bed is large enough to carry a cooler and a Gerry can of gas, while the rear 2-inch receiver and 4-ply Carlisle Trail Pro tires were designed exclusively for the Wildcat Trail.

The base-level Wildcat Trail comes with 12-in. steel wheels and half doors, and is available in Green or Red.

The Wildcat Trail XT EPS adds the steering ease of electronic power steering (EPS); machined cast-aluminum 12-in. wheels; color-matched suspension arms; and automotive style paint in Vibrant Red Metallic or True Timber Camo to complete the package.

Arctic Cat Wildcat Sport / XT EPS / Limited EPS

Arctic Cat’s popular mid-sized performance ROVs – the 2017 Wildcat Sport XT EPS and Wildcat Sport Limited EPS hit the dirt with great power, excellent sound and a pedigree that includes wins and top finishes in the sport’s toughest race events.

Powering the latest Wildcat Sport is a liquid-cooled 700 parallel twin engine designed by Arctic Cat. Featuring a closed-loop EFI system and four valves per cylinder, this powerful engine earns its class-leading distinction for sporty fun, smoothness and durability. A new ceramic coated muffler last season added 5 percent more horsepower, giving the three Sport models a 60-plus-hp burst with every stomp on the gas.

TEAM Rapid Response clutches maximize that horsepower and performance, while electronic-selectable 2WD/4WD (with front differen tial lock) provide the exact riding performance that riders want the moment they ask for it. And dual piston caliper hydraulic brakes offer enhanced braking performance.

Occupant comfort is a hallmark of Arctic Cat Wildcats, and the Sport follows suit with high-back bucket seats (with upper body supports); fully-variable tilt steering; a sport shifter on the center console; easy-access hinged doors with automotive-style handles and latches; passenger hand-hold; 3-point seat belts; digital gauge; a 1.23-gallon sized glove- box; and premium halogen lights with LED taillights.

Built for sporting fun, the Wildcat Sport also delivers useful features like a 300-lb. payload in the rear cargo bed, a 2-in. receiver and 1500-lb. towing capacity.

The Sport XT EPS is equipped with electronic power steering; cast-aluminum wheels; automotive-style paint; and color-matched shock springs. Its suspensions are dampened by JRi ECX-1 compression adjustable gas shocks. It’s available in Black.

The amped-up Sport Limited EPS package also features electronic power steering; full aluminum doors; and automotive-style paint; plus color-matched suspension arms and aluminum wheels. Plus it also comes with Elka Stage 5 shocks with Dual-Speed Compression and rebound adjustability, and a 3.2-gallon under hood storage box. It’s available in Dynamic Grey.

The biggest news is the introduction of the 2017 HDX 700 XT Crew. The HDX Crew features two sculpted bench rows of seating, accommodating up to six occupants. The 1000lb capacity, 2-in-1 cargo box transforms into a flatbed and the Crew has multitudes of additional storage options. The fully independent front and rear suspension has double A-arms and carries the load effortlessly. Navigating rough ground is no problem thanks to 10 inches of travel and 10 inches of ground clearance. The Arctic Cat built 700 engine ponies up the muscle to tackle any challenge and is available in Fire Red, True Timber Camo and Team Arctic Green.

For hunters and outdoorsmen, True Timber Camo and Blaze Orange models are available across a wide range of models including the TBX, HDX and Wildcat Trail .

This next entry may cast a smaller shadow, but it’ll be a big hit. The 2017 Prowler 500 serves the growing demand for a mid-size utility side-by-side that’s value-priced. From the beginning, the Arctic Cat Wildcat set a new standard in pure-sport ROV performance thanks to a chassis and suspension combo that was purpose-built to conquer all types of gnarly terrain. Inspired by desert race vehicles, the Wildcats’ exoskeleton chassis features a 40-/60-percent front/ rear weight distribution for optimal handling at high speed. The driver and passenger are located near the low center of gravity, leaving them less affected by the movements of the vehicle, enhancing confidence and control.

With an industry-leading 17/18 inches of front/ rear suspension travel and 13 inches of ground clearance, both Wildcats deliver comfort and control in nearly every condition. The 5-link trailing arm rear suspension design keeps the rear tires planted while the suspension moves through its travel for unmatched traction and control. The Wildcat X gets JRi ECX-1 shocks featuring 70-position compression adjust- ments, spring preload adjustment and 2.5-in. piggyback reservoirs.

The race-ready X Limited sports Elka Stage 5 shocks with high and low speed compression dampening as well as rebound adjustment. Precise tuning makes these shocks smoother and more responsive, and are tough, rugged and ready for anything.

Powering the 90-plus horsepower X models is a liquid-cooled 951cc Arctic Cat H2 V-Twin 4-stroke with Electronic Fuel Injection, a 2-into-1 ceramic-coated exhaust and single 50mm throttle body. Feeding that power and torque to the ground are the TEAM Rapid Response clutches and electronic selectable 2WD/4WD and front differential lock. Variable Assist Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system keeps the steering both light and precise. The EPS initiates at engine idle for reduced steering effort when in 4WD, especially when the differential lock is engaged. The result is a light steering input effort when negotiat- ing tough obstacles like washouts, rocks and mud, but with enough feedback so the driver senses the tire contact patch in relation to the terrain.

Additional comfort-and-control features include high back bucket seats with upper body supports and 3-point seat belts; plus tube- frame doors with integrated nets to compliment the exterior lines. Class-leading LED headlights and taillights shine extra-bright, while a 300-lb. payload rear compartment is large enough to carry a cooler and a Gerry can of gas. Machined, cast- aluminum wheels; automotive-style paint; underseat storage; glove box, bed-mounted tie-down hooks; and tilt steering complete the package. For 2016 the Wildcat X comes with JRi ECX-1 compression-adjustable shocks, new Duro PowerGrip tires; half doors; and three unique color combinations.

The upscale Wildcat X Limited adds full aluminum doors; a sleek molded roof; premium Elka Stage 5 shocks; color-matched aluminum beadlock wheels; aluminum front and rear bumpers; and 27-in. ITP Blackwater Evolution Tires. It comes in Matte Black paint.

The Wildcat X Special Edition gets the same features as the Limited, plus it features a special dash- mounted numbered plaque and is colored in military-like Desert Tan. It’s a truly limited-edition vehicle.

The Wildcat Sport, Wildcat Sport XT EPS and Wildcat Sport Limited EPS are class-leading, two-seat performance ROVs that slot in-between the original Wildcat and the Wildcat Trail. The Sport’s chassis is 110.5 in. long and 60 in. wide, compared to the Trail’s 110.5 x 50-in. chassis and the original Wildcat’s 128 x 64-in. chassis. The rider and passenger positions are set a full 3 in. lower than competitive models to produce a low center-of-gravity, leaving the occupants less affected by vehicle movements while optimizing vehicle handling. A performance engineered chassis complements a bump-swallowing double A-Arm front and swaybar-equipped rear suspensions with 12.2 in. and 12.6 in. of travel, with 13 in. of rock-clearing ground clearance. Add 26-in. Carlisle Trail Pro tires to the mix and the result is driving confidence and control in even the gnarliest terrain.

Redesigned last season, the premium quality Surlyn bodywork features an automotive style hood with a 22-gallon-sized box offering 25 lbs. of payload that’s water-resistant and easily accessible.
