After making waves with the TERYX4 H2 and TERYX5 H2, Kawasaki is raising the bar once again with the unveiling of the all-new 2027 TERYX H2. This time, the Japanese manufacturer is introducing a two-seat platform that is more compact and more agile while retaining the impressive 250-horsepower supercharged inline-four engine that has become the signature of the H2 family.

Designed to deliver excitement on tight technical trails as well as in wide-open terrain, the new TERYX H2 is much more than simply a four-seat model with two seats removed. Kawasaki has reworked the chassis, suspension and electronic systems to deliver an even more engaging driving experience.

Canadian buyers should note: unlike the U.S. market, Kawasaki Canada currently offers only the TERYX H2 Limited eS, available exclusively in Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray / Lime Green and Ice Gray / Flat Ebony.

The Only Sport Side-by-Side Powered by a Supercharged Inline-Four

The 2027 TERYX H2 produces 250 horsepower from its supercharged inline-four.

If there’s one feature that immediately separates the TERYX H2 from the competition, it’s the engine.

Power comes from a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four equipped with a centrifugal supercharger derived directly from the legendary Kawasaki Ninja H2 motorcycle.

Producing 250 horsepower and 146.2 lb-ft of torque, the TERYX H2 ranks among the most powerful sport side-by-sides available today. Unlike a turbocharged engine, the mechanically driven supercharger delivers instant throttle response with virtually no lag, while providing smooth, linear acceleration all the way to its impressive 9,500-rpm redline.

An All-New Platform Designed for the Trails

The TERYX4 H2 already impressed with its incredible performance, but its longer wheelbase made it better suited for wide-open terrain.

With the new two-seat TERYX H2, Kawasaki focused on creating a machine that’s more agile and better suited to tight forest trails.

A shorter wheelbase improves maneuverability through narrow trail sections.

Its shorter wheelbase improves maneuverability through narrow sections while maintaining excellent high-speed stability. The goal was simple: deliver all the performance of the H2 in a more compact, playful package.

Intelligent Suspension That Continuously Adapts

The TERYX H2 Limited eS introduces what is arguably the vehicle’s biggest technological advancement.

Its new KECS+ system combines FOX Live Valve electronically controlled shocks, an IMU, suspension-mounted acceleration sensors, and an electronic sway bar disconnect that automatically adapts to changing terrain.

KECS+ continuously adjusts damping based on terrain and driver input.

Drivers can choose between three suspension modes:

Firm

Sport

Comfort

Regardless of the selected mode, the system continuously monitors vehicle speed, steering angle, acceleration, body movement and terrain conditions to instantly adjust damping.

The result is greater stability during aggressive driving while maintaining outstanding comfort and suspension articulation over rough terrain.

Electronics Designed to Control 250 Horsepower

Another major highlight is KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control).

For the first time on a Kawasaki side-by-side, electronic traction control manages rear-wheel slip to improve acceleration and reduce oversteer when exiting corners.

Drivers can choose between two intervention levels or disable the system entirely for a more traditional driving experience.

The TERYX H2 also features three selectable engine maps:

Full Power – Full 250-horsepower output.

Mid Power – Approximately 80% power.

Low Power – Approximately 60% power.

These settings make the vehicle easier to manage in technical terrain, slippery conditions and low-speed maneuvers.

A CVT Built to Handle Serious Power

The reinforced CVT uses a heavier-duty belt and roughly double the cooling airflow of the KRX 1000.

Transmitting 250 horsepower through a continuously variable transmission is no small challenge.

Kawasaki developed a reinforced CVT featuring a heavier-duty belt, significantly improved cooling and numerous redesigned components built specifically to withstand the demands of its supercharged engine.

According to Kawasaki, airflow through the CVT cooling system is roughly twice that of the TERYX KRX 1000. Drivers can also monitor CVT temperature directly from the instrument display.

A Chassis Built for Performance

16.1 inches of ground clearance, a 74-inch stance and long-travel suspension.

The TERYX H2 rides on an all-new chassis offering 16.1 inches of ground clearance, a 74-inch stance, and long-travel suspension.

Front suspension delivers 23.2 inches of wheel travel, while the rear offers 24 inches.

Massive 33-inch MAXXIS Carnivore Plus tires mounted on 16-inch aluminum wheels complete a package clearly designed for high-speed performance while maintaining excellent control in demanding terrain.

A Premium Interior

The Limited eS adds a 10-inch Garmin Tread touchscreen with off-road GPS navigation.

Kawasaki also placed significant emphasis on the cabin.

Drivers benefit from a 7-inch full-color TFT display, adjustable bucket seats, four-point seat belts, a tilt steering wheel, backlit controls and numerous storage compartments.

The Limited model adds a 10-inch Garmin Tread touchscreen featuring off-road GPS navigation, an integrated audio system, smartphone connectivity and front/rear camera capability.

Bold Styling That Matches Its Performance

Dual exhaust outlets underline the TERYX H2’s performance intent.

Visually, the TERYX H2 makes a strong statement.

Its low-slung profile, wide fenders, exposed long-travel suspension, dual exhaust outlets and aggressive LED lighting give it the appearance of a true high-performance off-road machine.

The Limited model further stands out with beadlock wheels, color-accented suspension components and several premium styling touches.

Our First Impressions

Over the past few years, manufacturers have been locked in a technological arms race within the sport side-by-side segment. Polaris continues to push horsepower higher, Can-Am keeps refining the overall performance of its Maverick lineup, while Kawasaki has taken a completely different approach with its exclusive supercharged inline-four engine.

Beyond the impressive specifications, what stands out most to us is the philosophy behind the new TERYX H2. Kawasaki didn’t simply remove two seats from the TERYX4 H2. Instead, the company developed a more compact and agile platform aimed at riders who enjoy technical trails while still demanding comfort, confidence and high performance.

The addition of technologies such as KTRC, multiple power modes, the KECS+ electronic suspension and FOX Live Valve shocks also shows that Kawasaki isn’t relying on horsepower alone. The company appears to have focused on creating a machine that’s easier to exploit, equally capable of handling long trail rides and aggressive driving whenever conditions allow.

We’re also impressed by the attention given to the cabin. The new TFT display, Garmin Tread system on the Limited eS, redesigned seating and overall fit and finish suggest Kawasaki is raising the bar in the premium side-by-side segment.

Of course, specifications and technology only tell part of the story. Our real evaluation will come once we get behind the wheel and see whether this new platform truly delivers the level of performance, precision and control Kawasaki promises.

One thing is certain: with this launch, Kawasaki has sent a clear message to its competitors. The company is no longer simply looking to compete in the sport side-by-side category—it wants to challenge the segment’s established leaders.

Here at UTV Planet, the TERYX H2 is easily one of the 2027 models we’re most excited to test. If its real-world performance lives up to what the specifications suggest, it could quickly become a new benchmark for riders looking for a powerful, sophisticated side-by-side that stands apart from everything else currently on the market.

Availability in Canada

Canadian buyers should note one important difference compared to the U.S. lineup.

Kawasaki Canada currently offers only the TERYX H2 Limited eS. The standard TERYX H2 available in the United States is not currently listed in the Canadian lineup.

The TERYX H2 Limited eS is available in two colors only:

Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray / Lime Green

Ice Gray / Flat Ebony

The 2027 Kawasaki TERYX H2 Limited eS has a U.S. MSRP of $41,399 USD. To obtain the exact Canadian price, including freight, dealer preparation, and applicable taxes, please use the province selector on the official Kawasaki Canada website or contact your local Kawasaki dealer.

At UTV Planet, we’ll be following its arrival at Canadian dealerships closely and hope to get behind the wheel as soon as possible to find out whether Kawasaki’s latest technological showcase delivers on its impressive promises.

For 2027, Polaris is focusing on improving one of the few areas where CVT-equipped side-by-sides have traditionally faced criticism: cabin noise. Rather than redesigning the XPEDITION from the ground up, the company has developed an all-new transmission system intended to make long days on the trail quieter and more comfortable.

Called NUMATIX, the new pneumatic continuously variable transmission (CVT) is being introduced as an industry first and was engineered entirely by Polaris. If it performs as advertised, it could represent one of the most significant drivetrain advancements seen in the side-by-side market in recent years.

The 2027 Polaris XPEDITION aims to make long trail days quieter and more comfortable.

Built Around Rider Feedback

Since its debut, the XPEDITION has earned a reputation for combining sport side-by-side capability with the comfort of a fully enclosed cab featuring heating and air conditioning. It’s a machine designed for riders who spend entire days exploring trails, working on their property or venturing deep into the backcountry.

According to Polaris, those same riders consistently asked for one thing: less drivetrain noise during long rides.

NUMATIX is the company’s answer.

Unlike a conventional CVT, the new system uses air pressure to regulate the primary clutch. That allows engine speed to drop whenever full power isn’t required, reducing noise without affecting acceleration or the vehicle’s ability to tackle demanding terrain.

Polaris says the result is a cabin that’s up to 40 percent quieter than before.

More Than Just a Quieter Ride

While lower noise levels are the headline feature, NUMATIX was designed to improve the overall driving experience.

The transmission continuously monitors operating conditions and can make adjustments up to 200 times per second based on throttle input, engine load and terrain. Polaris says that translates into smoother acceleration, improved belt grip, more consistent clutch engagement and increased durability when towing, climbing steep grades or crawling through technical sections.

For riders who regularly push their machines in demanding conditions, those improvements may prove just as valuable as the quieter ride itself.

NUMATIX is designed to keep the XPEDITION’s capability intact while cutting cabin noise.

Drive Modes Tailored to the Trail

The XPEDITION also receives updated drive modes for 2027.

Comfort mode is calibrated for relaxed cruising and reduced noise, Standard mode strikes a balance between comfort and responsiveness, while Sport mode sharpens throttle response when quicker acceleration is desired.

The idea is simple: let drivers choose how the vehicle behaves instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all setup.

A Practical Feature for Backcountry Adventures

Another addition likely to appeal to adventure riders is the integrated onboard air system.

Instead of packing a separate portable compressor, owners can inflate tires, blow dust and debris off equipment or operate compatible pneumatic accessories directly from the vehicle.

Polaris will also offer dedicated accessories, including a 25-foot air hose and a four-gallon pressurized water tank designed for trail and campsite use.

They’re not headline-grabbing features, but they’re the kind of practical additions that can make life easier during multi-day trips.

Refinements Continue

Polaris also updated the shifting mechanism for 2027, making gear selection smoother and requiring less effort. While not as visible as the new transmission, it’s another refinement aimed at improving day-to-day usability.

Availability

The 2027 Polaris XPEDITION is offered in XP and ADV models with two- and five-passenger seating.

The 2027 Polaris XPEDITION will be available exclusively in NorthStar trim, with both two-passenger and five-passenger configurations offered in XP and ADV models.

Pricing starts at US$40,499, with deliveries expected to begin at North American dealerships in August 2026.

NorthStar models will also receive a two-year limited factory warranty, while the rest of the Polaris Off Road lineup continues with a one-year limited warranty.

What We Think

NUMATIX isn’t simply another feature added to the XPEDITION’s equipment list. It addresses a characteristic of CVT-equipped vehicles that many riders have accepted for years: drivetrain noise.

Whether the new transmission delivers on Polaris’ claims will ultimately be determined during real-world testing. If it performs as promised, however, the 2027 XPEDITION won’t just be quieter—it could influence how future CVT systems are developed across the side-by-side industry.

The Prowler Pro is the latest addition to the Arctic Cat utility UTV family and it is also the only one in 2023 with the disappearance of the small Prowler 500. It is offered with 3 or 6 passenger cabins. When it was introduced, it was so resolutely work-oriented that Caterpillar chose it to integrate it into its range in 2 or 6-passenger versions. We say the Prowler Pro was definitely work-oriented, because Arctic Cat gave its suspension a major overhaul last year. We will come back later.

Update on the Arctic Cat Prowler Pro and Prowler Pro Crew

The presentation of the Prowler Pro

The vehicle is powered by an 812cc EFI three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The block comes from the Chinese company Chery, but seasoned with Arctic Cat sauce, which retouched the fuel intake, exhaust and engine mapping. It provides a modest 50 horsepower and 48 pounds of torque. However, the intention of the manufacturer was not to deliver raw power, but to offer the best possible operating silence. For this purpose, the motor called whisper quiet, has been designed with an air intake that dampens sound, motor mounts that reduce noise and vibration and a calibrated muffler to eliminate noise as much as possible. The results are convincing, as the Prowler Pro’s motor emits a noise level of 58 dB, making it the quietest in the industry. The transmission is of the CVT type and was revised in 2022 to increase its performance. The driver-selectable AWD system is supported by a self-locking front differential and a rear that can be unlocked (Turf mode).

The suspension is independent at all four wheels and has 10 inches of travel in the front and 9.5 inches in the rear. This was recalibrated in 2022 and the improvement in comfort is appreciable. Ground clearance has been increased to up to 13 inches. This vehicle is capable of carrying up to 1000 pounds in its tilt bed, which is the same load that Ford allows you to put in the box of the F150. Also, the towing capacity is 2000 pounds.

Detail of rear suspension and hitch. Notice the bulky muffler.

Access to the cabin is very easy, as the door opens onto a flat floor from one side of the vehicle to the other. The space offered is spacious and the use of a gear selector on the steering column frees up maximum space for the 3rd passenger in the middle. The flat bench seat can seat a third passenger thanks to the seat belt in place, but there are no grab handles or center head restraints. However, Arctic Cat has made a lot of effort for storage, such as a sealed space is provided behind the seat backrest, closed spaces are provided under the seat and in the dashboard in front of the passenger. Said seat is straight and the padding is firm.

Driving impression

Taking a seat on board the Prowler Pro is child’s play, all you have to do is open the half-door, put your foot on the floor and slide yourself into the bench seat. Steering wheel clearance from the driver and legroom are very generous. Once behind the wheel, visibility all around the vehicle is very good.

When starting the engine, you can hear it turn and start up discreetly. As you begin to move forward, you realize that you hear more tire noise than mechanical noise! This means that his nickname of Whisper quiet is not usurped. Obviously, with a power of 50 horsepower with a vehicle of this size, do not expect breathtaking performance, but it is still adequate for the intended use of the vehicle. Within a group of a few people on the trail, I could maintain the pace at 50 km/h without problems. On a forest road, with a bit of patience, the Prowler Pro will be able to reach a speed of around 90 km/h, which is very respectable for a utility SSV.

Update on the Arctic Cat Prowler Pro and Prowler Pro Crew

The Prowler Pro originally came with stiff suspension that was designed for work first. However, Arctic Cat thoroughly revised the calibration of the front suspension last year in order to soften the damping. By riding the trails at a good pace, we have to admit that the results are convincing. We still feel the bumps, but the vehicle is not brutal in its reactions and the comfort is of good quality for the category. The power steering is direct and adds to the driving pleasure of this vehicle. On the other hand, the seat offers comfort and is slippery like a school bus seat. When driving on the trail, you slide on the bench seat and look for a place to hold on and stay in place. The builder could use a non-slip seat cover.

The Prowler Pro is a very efficient utility vehicle that can also be fun to use on trails for hiking or long-distance work crew trips.

Today, Honda reveals the updated 2022 Talon 1000X side-by-side. Since entering the sport side-by-side market just four years ago, the Honda Talon 1000X has already established itself among the top entrants in the segment, quickly growing and evolving to address the needs of drivers in different regions and with varying driving preferences

For the new model year, Honda engineers focused on improving the drive experience through updates in a number of areas, particularly the driver/passenger cabin:

Relocated Meter: For improved visibility, the meter is now relocated directly behind the steering wheel, and an extended sun visor reduces glare. The background colour is now different as well.

Switch Panel: To facilitate integration of electric accessories, a new pre-wired switch panel now resides in the meter’s old location.

Reshaped Paddle Shifters: To facilitate manual gear-changes during dynamic steering manoeuvres, the steering-column-mounted shift paddles have been extended by 13 mm on top and by 30 mm on the bottom, while matching the contours of the previous outer edge. As a result, access is greatly facilitated, regardless of where the driver’s hands are on the steering wheel.

Improved Mud Protection: By adding rubber sealing to the floor area around all seats, engineers have better isolated the driver and passengers from mud and water.

Revised Ignition Timing: To deliver smoother transitions from deceleration to acceleration, ignition is momentarily retarded to reduce engine torque and shock.

I-4WD Upgrade: To speed up reaction time and improve performance with larger aftermarket tires, Honda retuned its high-tech I-4WD system for a more-aggressive torque transfer.

Launch Control: Now standard

Updated Styling: The front fascia and bumper have been updated for a bold new look, and new graphics round out the aesthetic improvements.

AUDIO SYSTEM

The Teryx4 S Special Editions’s high-grade audio system allows drivers to add a soundtrack to their adventure and utilizes a compact studio unit that is built into the center console, giving the dash a well-integrated appearance. The stereo features AM/FM, Bluetooth, and USB and is powered by a 4-channel 160-watt 4-internal amplifier. A 40W x4 output produces a powerful sound, while the Bluetooth boasts a range of up to 32’. The controller includes a LCD screen with backlit controls and large, waterproof buttons that can easily be operated while wearing gloves. A pair of 6.5” 2-way waterproof speakers are mounted in composite enclosures below the dash and are complemented by an additional two 4” 2-way waterproof speakers built into the dash. The composite enclosures help protect against elements encountered out on the trails and also contribute to a high-quality sound that delivers both high and low frequencies. For crystal clear high-frequency performance, a 0.75” titanium dome tweeter has been fitted and is complemented by a poly cone to provide a sharp, deep bass.

WINCH

Fit as standard equipment on the 2023 Teryx4 S Special Edition is a WARN VRX 35 Powersport winch that is built using premium components and offers industry-leading performance and features. The winch adds to the tough image of the Teryx4 S Special Edition appearance and offers 50’ of durable 7/32” wire rope that has a 3,500 lb. capacity. A load-holding roller disc brake offers great control, and a three-stage planetary gear train helps ensure smooth, efficient operation of the winch. Additionally, the illuminated dash-mounted rocker control switch is complemented by a corded remote. Thanks to all-metal construction, waterproof sealing of the motor and drivetrain, zinc-plated hook, semi-gloss black powder-coated finish and stainless steel fasteners for corrosion resistance, superb durability and build quality is achieved. The installation kit was designed specifically designed for the Teryx4, ensuring a perfectly integrated fit.

SPECIAL COLOR AND GRAPHICS

The 2023 Kawasaki Teryx4 S Special Edition is offered in an Ice Gray / Metallic Onyx Black color scheme and features a front bumper that is finished in texture Persimmon Red to provide a high-contrast counterpoint to the gray and black base coloring. Three-tone seat covers consisting of Black, Persimmon Red, and Gray stitching contributes to the intense, sporty image found on the Teryx4 S Special Edition.

Honda’s run in the recreational and utility UTV area has been, well, just like you’d expect from Honda – a little different. Their first foray into the scene was the Big Red, a machine that took the namesake of Honda’ legendary three-wheeled utility machine. The Big Red was interesting and simple. It worked pretty well for what it was, but it never seemed to mech with the market and was soon replaced by the Pioneer 700. These machines had more going for them, and it clicked with consumers. The Pioneer did things that were very Honda-like and is a very reliable machine, but it lacked in one area that always seemed to be the demand in the market – horsepower. With Polaris and Can-Am locked in a power struggle to create more power, the race to the 1,000cc mark was on. Honda delivered and several years ago, we were invited to Montana to get our first ride on the Pioneer 1000.

One thing was very clear from our first impressions of the Honda Pioneer 1000. Honda had designed a machine that was well equipped for trail fun, and utility work as well. We found ourselves grinning from ear to ear as we hammered the trails around the famed Paws Up resort in Greenough, Montana. It was early autumn, so the scenery and temperatures were perfect for the rides. Our only complaints about the machine were that it could use a little better instrument cluster, and a little better heat shielding for the passenger seating. Well, Honda has made some serious upgrades with the new 2022 Honda Pioneer 1000 lineup. We’re excited to get our hands on one. Let’s run down what we know so far.

More power

Honda, like every other Japanese-based manufacturer is very tight-lipped about horsepower numbers. They choose to not get into the battle raging from the North American OEMs, and honestly, that is fine with us. A number doesn’t really matter, it’s all about how usable that power is for you. Honda has announced that the 2022 Honda Pioneer 1000 line produces more power through the mid-range and top end. But that’s not all.

The twin-cylinder 999cc Unicam engine that Honda made famous with the African Twin motorcycle, is now more compact, while having the same overall quality and design of the original. The New Honda motor is mated to an updated transmission that works to boost the low-end power and acceleration. The Pioneer has lowered gear ratios that bring the power to the ground more efficiently than previous models.

This new really excites us because the Previous powerplant was a favorite of ours. Part of what makes this happen comes from the ability to use the transmission in automatic and manual modes, you can control exactly how the machine shifts, and this is a big bonus, especially in low range. We will once again say the simple truth – if you want to know which UTV has the undisputed best engine braking, drop a Pioneer 1000 into first gear in low range.

Other updates and new stuff

Honda updated the the dash display cluster with a sleek new look and clever displays of all the information you need while driving. They also did something that may make you laugh at first, but when you climb in, you’ll be happy about. They made the cupholders bigger. These updates, however, are minor in comparison to the other tricks Honda’s design team had up their sleeves.

Honda revised the chassis of the Pioneer 1000 line to make the ride more responsive to terrain changes and more forgiving to the driver. This is a huge update to a machine that handled pretty good to begin with. With this chassis, Honda also revised the suspension geometry and shocks to match. The power steering system has been renovated as well, making steering more responsive and natural to the driver. We have been told that the steering makes the driver feel more connected to the wheels, without any of the kickbacks that can fatigue the driver.

Honda also updated their sweet i4WD system, giving the drive more interaction with the brakes. This gives you better control during up- and down-hill driving scenarios. It also makes handling better with less kickback from rocks and other obstacles, and lighter steering, without the drag you can get from other machines with the font differentials locked.

Honda also gave the Pioneer 1000 line new 27-inch tires on 15-inch wheels. We don’t know much about the new tires yet, but from what we’ve seen, the tread looks good. And speaking of looking good, how about the new sleeker front end? If you’re going to revise the chassis and engine and make the machine better than the previous model, you need some new styling to further set it apart, right? We really like the new look.

But what, there’s more

There are now 4 trim levels to the Pioneer 1000 and Pioneer 1000-5. You have the standard model with steel wheels. The Deluxe model with aluminum wheels is next up and adds a silver color option for the Pioneer 1000, and a bright blue option in the 1000-5. New for 2022 are the Trail and Forest trims. The Trail version adds a 4,500 winch, rearview mirror, forward cab light and, more importantly, Fox QS3 shocks that add another level of ride quality and control to the machine. Want more? The Forest model really speaks to the hunting crowd with Honda Forest Phantom camo, a 4,500-pound winch, blacked-out aluminum wheels, a bed light, forward cab light and an oversized from bumper capable of protecting the grill from brush and such as you get back into the forest to your secret spots.

These models all share the basics with a 1,000-pound bed capacity, 2,500-pound towing capacity, 13.8-foot turning radius and 7.9-glallon gas tank with 1.7-gallon reserve to get you back home. The 1000-5 models also share the quick-flip rear seating that converts back to a cargo bed. What really makes us happy is that all models are supposed to have greatly reduced heat transfer to the passenger seating area. This is huge news, as that was an issue Honda had right from the start. When the weather was cold, it wasn’t a problem. In fact, it made things more enjoyable, but come summer…

Final thoughts

The only thing that excites us as much as an all0new machine, is when a company revises an existing line that we really enjoy and addresses all the things we would see as things to be fixed. It shows that the manufacturer is truly listening to what the consumer and media have to say after they put the machine through the paces of their needs. Polaris did that with the Ranger redesign a few years back, taking every customer complaint and using them as the starting points for the machine planning. This is why we’re so excited for the new 2022 Honda Pioneer 1000 and Pioneer 1000-5 models. Honda took a great machine and refined it into what we expect will be a solid machine in the rec/utility category. Exciting stuff.
