Among all manufacturers of off-road vehicles, without a doubt, Can-Am offers one of the widest range of accessories to customize its vehicles. Seriously, there are some many choices, we have a hard time picking which one we will pick for a particular project. It’s nice to have choices.

Some accessories are primarily intended to impress the crowd with their rather aesthetic attributes, while others have the fundamental objective of adding safety and practicality. We decided on the practical type of accessories to equip our 2020 Can-am Maverick X3 RR. We also made sure to meet the basic safety accessories required by the regulations to ride on the trails across Canada.

Before we get started, did you know that BRP, mostly due to eco-responsiblity, puts online installation instruction sheets for its accessories at www.instructions.brp.com? This initiative saves 7,330,000 sheets of paper annually and saves over 480 trees.

It’s quick and easy. We only had to enter the part number to access the installation steps. In some cases, we have also printed templates, making it easier for us to drill in the exact places. Note that it is also possible to request a printed copy of the instructions and templates for each accessory when purchasing from all BRP dealers. Finally, it is essential to remember that if you are not comfortable installing accessories on your recreational vehicle, a qualified technician at any BRP certified dealer will be able to do it for you.

CAD $99.99

Probably the number one essential accessory on the add-on list to incorporate when purchasing any side by side vehicle. If you ever forget to buy one, you will quickly discover why it should be essential. It allows you to have a global rear vision by simply looking at it, in just a fraction of a second. It will let you know about the presence of your riding companions and will also allow you to be aware of an impatient rider who asks you to give way.

Its installation takes just a few minutes following the instructions. You just need to mount the mirror to its support first, then complete the installation by screwing the latter to the upper frame of the Can-am Maverick X3. Final adjustment is made by loosening the adjustment knob on its back, and tightening it when the perfect setting is obtained. It cannot be simpler and this new addition will provide a perfect panoramic vision.

The dimensions of this central mirror may seem minimalist, but they offer a panoramic view that fulfills our requirements and should meet yours too. Its convex shape offers wide-angle visibility and it is a piece of mandatory equipment to ride on most organized trail systems in Canada, simply because of all the safety aspects it offers.

2- Half windshield for Maverick X3:

Part number 715002909

CAD $354.99

The addition of this accessory is a matter of taste and preferences from the vehicle’s owner. For our part, we prefer a full windshield on cold winter days, but a half windshield is great in the summer season to offer basic protection on colder summer days and to deflect dust and mud.

The half windshield that we decided to install on our Can-am Maverick X3 is made of a 3/16 thick hard polycarbonate AR (abrasion resistant) material that offers superior scratch resistance. Although it costs a little more to use polycarbonate, it offers superior strength and durability compared to acrylic options. This material, with proper care, can last as long as you own the machine.

Be sure to purchase a high-quality, abrasion-resistant polycarbonate windshield, and pay attention to its folding areas – they should have a reduced and veiled appearance. It is a specific characteristic of polycarbonate when it is folded and it is, therefore, an indication of a product that will keep its visibility in the long term.

The initial installation requires you to carefully follow the instructions since several dashboard screws must be removed for some drilling. The goal is the permanent installation of supports. Subsequently, when all of these steps are followed, the use of a J-shaped support allows the removal and addition of the half windshield in just a few seconds, and without tools.

At first, we were amazed by its ease of installation, its aesthetic form, and its rigidity. Its shaded edges also give it a rich finish. However, when we hit the trails, to be honest, we were quickly disappointed. We do not deny its deflection qualities, but we quickly experienced reduced visibility by the veiled folded areas which were often found directly in our field of vision. We were annoyed to the point of regretting its addition at times. The recommendation that we could make to its designers is to design a shorter version that would fix this major drawback. In return, a complete windshield will not have this problem.

3- Side mirrors:

Part number 715004236

CAD $314.99

In addition to the central mirror, the installation of side mirrors adds a huge security aspect and to comply with the regulations in place for most organized trails. The model that we had previously chosen is somewhat a challenge to install in itself because it requires care and precision in drilling the holes to insert the mirrors in their exact position on the vehicle. We printed the assembly instructions as well as the drilling template. However, during the process, we quickly realized that something was wrong. We started with the holes on the metallic surfaces inside the doors using the template provided for this purpose. Then, when we were ready to drill the holes on the exterior surfaces, we found that the inside and outside holes were not perfectly aligned. In fact, we had to correct the outside drilling template 1/2 inch towards the rear of the vehicle to allow a perfect alignment.

Luckily, we had done these checks, otherwise, going back would have been impossible. Would this have worked with other model years than our 2020 Can-am Maverick X3 model? We don’t know. All things considered, we are happy to have completed the installation. The recommendation that we would like to make is the following – for this specific accessory, we recommend that you leave it to a technician at your BRP dealer to avoid a costly drilling error.

Despite the issues encountered during this installation, we are highly satisfied with the quality of these side mirrors. The aluminum support, covered with black nylon, should resist impacts it will face during its life. The adjustment is easy and is not altered despite repeated vibrations during rides on bumpy trails. Their convex shapes provide a wide-angle vision to allow a wider vision. They have the particularity of being foldable if an impact occurs or to allow passage in a cramped place thanks to a spring pivot. Speaking of which, we had a space constraint when transporting the Can-am Maverick X3 RR 2020 in our closed trailer. Despite the 7 feet width of our trailer, the Maverick X3 doors fitted with these side mirrors require special care when boarding. Getting out of the vehicle requires contortionist talents because the mirrors take up space for opening the doors as they hit the interior walls of the trailer.

4- Sports roof:

Part number 715002902

CAD $469.99

Can-am offers several choices of roof for the Maverick X3. The advantages of having a roof on a side by side vehicle are obvious. It protects us from the various weather conditions and the sun on a hot summer day.

We opted for the impact-resistant, polypropylene sport roof. Aesthetically, its shape and style are pleasant for the eyes, and its installation is perfectly fitted on the ROPS cage of our Maverick X3. The installation is carried out in a few minutes without tools. To be honest, we first had questions about the effectiveness of the 4 quarter-turn fasteners that attach this roof to the vehicle. We feared that they could loosen during repeated vibrations. To our surprise, they held up perfectly without a problem.

This roof offers very good protection against the elements and is compatible with all the windshields offered by Can-am. Its removal is carried out as quickly as its installation when the need arises.

Beyond the aesthetic appeal, a quality front bumper offers body parts protection against possible impacts. In some cases, they also allow the installation of a winch to help to get you out of difficult situations.

We opted for this Can-am front bumper model because it offers the high quality we were looking for. The high weight of its components gave us a good indication of its durability. It just plain looks tough.

Carrying out its installation, however, gave us several difficulties. Four hands and two brains were needed to achieve this install. The instructions and the photos attached to this piece of equipment were very difficult to understand. At times, we had to improvise and be logical, because they were not so obvious.

Some original parts of our Maverick X3 had to be removed and trashed, and eventually be replaced with the new ones provided with the new bumper. These were attached directly to the chassis and it was at this point that we had to overcome a problem – the bolts of the upper suspension arms were very difficult to access. We had to work hard to loosen them despite the limited space. During the installation stages, we noticed that we had to put in place a reinforcement plate. Upon further examination, we found that our vehicle was already equipped with this part and that its installation was not necessary (we would have appreciated a note mentioning this in the instructions).

Our rational mind allowed us to go through the different stages despite a blatant lack of precision in the many installation phases. It finally ended with the installation of a protective aluminum plate to complete our hard work.

Despite the pitfalls, we can say loud and clear that this bumper is among the most appealing and durable that we have found to date. It will allow the installation of a winch, thanks to the location provided for this purpose. Its 1.5-inch diameter steel tubes are coated with an interior and exterior corrosion resistant coating with a durable powder coat finish.

The only downside we can foresee is the possible deterioration of the aluminum protection plate. Despite its nice appearance, it will likely show obvious signs of aging when it will be constantly confronted with the elements.

Part number 715002880

CAD $369.99

To complete the addition of a front bumper, the installation of a rear bumper is a logical step. Plus it looks pretty cool. The rear bumper protects against unfortunate impacts that may occur and helps to maintain the integrity of body parts.

To counterbalance the difficulties we faced during the assembly of the front bumper, we found that the installation of the rear bumper was surprisingly easy. About fifteen minutes of work, and everything was in place. The 1.5-inch diameter steel tubes are also coated with a durable coating of electrostatic powder for durability over the years.

The only complaint we can make is the same as that of the front bumper. The 1/8-inch aluminum protection plate will likely show signs of obvious deterioration a little too quickly in our opinion.

All in all, the installation of these accessories on our Can-am Maverick X3 RR 2020 was relatively easily done. They make us benefit from the advantages of an exceptional hyper-sport side by side vehicle that is already well defined on the market. No doubt our rides will be more enjoyable with the addition of these new accessories.

Hey, want to get dirty? And we don’t mean a little dirty; we’re talking really dirty with your machine by climbing down into the biggest mudhole you can and trying to crawl back out. Playing in the mud is something we never really outgrow and once you get riding, it just gets more fun. There’s a lot of mud tires available, but how do you pick the best ones for you?

When it comes time to pick the best mud tire for you, answer this question, how aggressive of a tire do you want? An aggressive tire is great for digging through the slop, but it can make for a rougher trail ride. Plus, you don’t want too aggressive of a tire if you have a smaller displacement machine. The cool thing is, you can get some sweet tires and not pay a fortune for them. Here are five tires we’re pretty fond of, that will help you sling some mud. They’re pretty good at digging through the snow, too, making them a great choice year round. Get yourself a set and get ready to hit the trails

ITP Cryptid

ITP is one of the biggest names in ATV and UTV tires. They are also one of the oldest brands in tires for our sport and they have a wide range of high-performance tires. The Cryptid mud tires are amazing slop slingers and are used as the stock tires on several special mud-edition machines from the factories. These are a flat profile, narrow tire, exactly what you want in a serious mud tire. The lugs are 1.5 inches deep at the center and 2 inches deep at the shoulders. This gives the tires deep tread with excellent sidewall traction that helps to pull you out of the ruts and nastiness. Adding to the grip are the center lugs that are grooved for traction and to be self-cleaning. The tire carcass is 6-ply and pretty tough. This is easily one of the best mud tires around.

Super ATV Assassinator

If you have a high-horsepower ATV or UTV, and absolutely don’t want to get stuck, the Assassinator is your tire. This is a mud-specific tire and really isn’t something you should consider riding on any trail with simply because you’re going to do damage to both the trail and possibly the tire. It’s a lot like using a paddle tire on anything other than sand – no good can come of it. The directional, paddle-type tread is three inches deep and moves mud and water out and away from the tire as it drives through the slop. These tires have a narrow profile so reduce drag and have a 6-ply rating for durability. If you are a serious, dedicated mudder, these tires are for you.

Maxxis Maxxzilla Plus

One of our favorite entries for a mud tire from Maxxis is the Maxxzilla Plus. This is a 6-ply tire with 1.75-inch deep tread. The tread design is aggressive while still having just enough of a tread block along the center to give the tire a semi-smooth ride on the trail. You’re still going to tear things up, but not nearly as bad as you’d think. Channels molded into the rubber help clean the tread and move muck out and away from the tire, letting you grab more traction. These tires are available in bigger sizes, too, letting you get a cool look.

Sedona Mudda InLaw

We are pretty fond of the tires offered by Sedona and we think the Mudda InLaw may have the best name in mud tires. While these are aggressive mud tires they are also radial tires. Meaning that they will grab traction in the muck, but the ride quality will be far superior to many other aggressive tires. The 8-ply carcass makes them one of the toughest tires for resisting punctures. Of course what it toughness and ride quality of you get stuck? The Muddas have 2-inch deep tread increasing to 2 ¼ inches at the outside. The tread design cleans well and helps drive the tire into the mud, just like one of the best mud tires should.

Kenda Bearclaw

We know what you’re saying – why the Bearclaw? Now everyone wants a hyper aggressive mud tire. Some, many in fact, want a tire that will offer improved traction in the mud over a stock tire, but still be a good, usable tire for all other conditions. The Bearclaws are one of those tires that isn’t the sexy pick, but a lot of people buy them because they are durable and are usually one of the lower cost options for replacement tires. The directional chevron tread digs into the mud and snow better than a knobby tire and the grooves add traction while being pretty self cleaning. Cheap, popular, tough and works – sounds like one of the best mud tires to us!

If I ask you a very simple question – “Name a winch brand,” which name comes quickly to your mind? The vast majority of you will answer “WARN,” and with good reason. Warn Industries has built a remarkable reputation and created the winch segment for off-road vehicles 30 years ago by patenting the industry’s first ATV winch. Three decades later, Warn comes back again with the introduction of a new ATV and side-by-side winch lineup.

Warn pushes the limits once again and introduces the new AXON and VRX series. These bring new levels of technology, durability, and performance in the off-road ATV/UTV winch market.

We have the AXON 45 RC on hand to show you all the work Warn has done to make installation easier and to ensure an unmatched service life of this new winch. The AXON 45 RC features 4,500-lb capacity, a short, narrow drum configuration optimized for mounting in tight space found on some UTVs, and a ¼” Spydura synthetic rope. It is also equipped with an Epic Powersports hawse fairlead and a digital control switch. If you have already installed a winch once in your life, you will be happy to deal with this one. It’s that much easier to install.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

The AXON 45 RC new design is very well done. We notice at first glance that it is very compact and the steel case is designed to keep its rigidity. Also, the finish will last a long time thanks to the new powder coat paint. Compared to other brands and other Warn models, the AXON 45 RC is installed with a specific mounting plate that bolts directly to the winch housing and the vehicle’s chassis, which greatly simplifies the installation. Interestingly, the supplied hardware is all stainless steel so nothing will rust or deteriorate (which is a good thing considering it is usually used in mud, snow and wet areas).

With regard to its internal components, this new Axon winch is equipped with a Motactor (motor + contactor), which is a combination of the winch motor and a contactor. Before this technology, we had to connect the motor to an external contactor which distributed the required electrical charge for the winch operation. By inserting the contactor in the motor housing, most wires are now inside the winch housing, protected from the elements. This great piece of technology provides a sealed winch compliant with IP68 waterproof certification. Also, by eliminating an installation step in the power distribution, the Motactor system allows a much simpler and faster installation of about 50%. In summary, the design of Warn’s new winches provides faster and easier installation than conventional winches.

The AXON 45 RC is equipped with a new clutch system that makes it easy to switch from the disengaged mode for unwinding the cable to engaged mode to wind it up. It is also equipped with a high performance integrated brake to hold the load and provide more control.

Another novelty, the Axon is equipped with a dashboard switch to control winding and unwinding the winch cable from the cabin. Another interesting feature is its indicator light. When the winch reaches 50% of its capacity, the indicator lights in yellow, at 75% it becomes orange, and at 90% it lights red. Finally, when it exceeds the winch’s maximum capacity, the red light will be continuously flashing and the winch will stop working to avoid damaging its components by use beyond its limits. The AXON winch offers a unique digital control that provides users with unprecedented levels of feedback, including information on load, temperature and battery level. As a result, you get the most advanced and powerful winch ever built. A remote control is also provided with this winch to facilitate its remote use.

Can-am put a Maverick Trail at our disposal to demonstrate the installation of the AXON winch. We also had at our disposal a Warn bumper specially designed for this vehicle. We have selected this equipment because the sloped design of the bumper keeps it high above the ground and helps maintain maximum ground clearance. We can attach WARN AXON winches, VRX winches, and older 4,500-lb winch models on it. It also has built-in light ports for mounting auxiliary spotlights and soldered recovery points ready for D shackles. It is made of a durable black powder coat paint on a 100% steel construction. It is easy to install on the vehicle, thanks to pre-drilled bolt holes, and pre-cut cutouts make it easy to assemble a WARN winch, even after the bumper is installed.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Note: When installing any electrical components, it is recommended to first disconnect the battery.

The installation of the Warn bumper is quick and easy with a bolt-on installation.

1- Attach the lower retaining plate to the original Can-am Maverick Trail bumper with 2 bolts.

2- Install the top plate. U-bolts are used because this plate is attached to the tubular portion of the Maverick Trail bumper. At this step consider leaving the U-bolts nuts somewhat loose to facilitate step 3.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

3- Install the front portion of the Warn bumper by inserting the shackle attachment points in its front portion. Using 3 bolts, this portion can be firmly secured to the lower retaining plate installed in step 1. The design of the Warn bumper allows passing our hands through the side cutouts to proceed with the installation of the bolts. This is also a good time to firmly tighten the U-bolts installed during step 2.
The bumper being solidly installed, it is now time to install the winch.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

4- We ran the power cables through a sealed rubber hole in the cabin firewall and used zip ties to route and secure the cables, making sure they did not rub on any other parts.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

5- The connection of the 12V (+) power source as well as the ground wire (-) to the winch is easy and the addition of a protective cap completes this connection.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

6- We have determined that the connection of our source wires will be at a power relay located under the dashboard.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

7- At the winch, a quick-connect fitting connects the wires from the dashboard switch as well as the remote control.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

8- The Maverick Trail dashboard design offers open spaces for switches and controls. Therefore, we used a vacant space to install the winch control switch.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

9- We installed the hawse fairlead to the steel plate that comes with the bumper. The latter was inserted under the Axon winch and was secured using 4 bolts.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

10- Finally, the installation of the hook on the synthetic rope completes this simple and fast installation.
At this time, the battery can now be reconnected, we can test our new winch and enjoy its benefits.

Warn Axon 45 RC winch Installation

In conclusion, the addition of a winch is essential to fully enjoy our outings in the forest. Consider the choice of an AXON winch as an investment that will take you away from many worries. Even if it’s a bit more expensive, this high-end Axon winch from Warn will pay off in the long run and it will serve you for many years to come!

It’s gift-giving season and Can-Am off-road has you covered. In fact, you can find something for everyone in your family, no matter the size, at our online store. Many of these gifts are so cool and interchangeable, that they can be given to many people in your life. From spouses to significant others — heck, even the mother-in-law — you can do all your shopping in one spot. We’ve compiled a list of gift ideas, per family member (And, yes, even the dog!) from $17.99 to $149.99 USD to help you get started.

Mom —
She raised you. She’s praised you. She would do anything for you. The least you could do is show your mom you love her by keeping her favorite hot beverage warmer longer. This is especially true when she’s out in her Can-Am Defender before daybreak checking on the farm animals. The 15-ounce bamboo and stainless steel travel coffee mug has a quick-seal, pressure-fit lid with an open/close slide to eliminate splashing.

When the real wintery months hit in Quebec, the city is ready and most daily chores keep rolling along without any serious trouble other than a workout for snow machines and shovels. It is when you decide to drift out into the back country that you might find that you will need some serious help navigating the deep powder there. Adventures are measured in the memories that are made and if you want to find adventure you do need the right tools, so that all of those memories are good ones!

Recently we had a chance to once again experience the drifts of nature’s miracle dust up around the lodge at Canada’s Lac des Bouleaux. This fine facility is located just north east of Saint Urbaine and is a great anchor point for those looking to ride sleds or even the latest in SXS technology. This is where the Can-Am PAC (Parts Accessories Clothing) team decided to introduce journalists to their latest Apache brand snow tracks. You might recognize the Can-Am Apache brand as their tracks have been on the market for many years as an All-Season Track kit. Having the latest in their technology at our disposal we had a chance to experience the new BackCountry and BackCountry LT track systems.

Can-Am Apache Backcountry Tracks First Look

Can-Am had outfitted several SXS and ATV’s with the BackCountry tracks and had plenty of serious snow for us to test their mettle on. The construction included a 2-inch lug on a 3-inch pitch to increase the versatility and to give uncompromised traction. This design also proved to add serious flotation. Special features, departing from the normal all-season track design, are very unique to this new set of tracks and at the core is the slider system. The BackCountry uses an aluminum rail or slider for more contact patch. There is actually 29 percent more contact patch according to Can-Am. This allows the track to stay a bit looser and pliable for that traction input mentioned earlier and is cooled or lubricated by the snow it runs through. This is actually the same technologically advanced track that a Ski-Doo Summit snowmobile uses. If you are familiar with the Summit’s engineering, then you already know it performs very well and now you can have that track on every corner of your machine. One other feature is the extra 7-inches of ground clearance added to the machines running the BackCountry LT tracks.

Our ride consisted of many vehicles but our first would be the Can-Am Maverick Xrs. This big and very powerful machine donned with the Apache BackCountry LT (Long Track) looked simply incredible but looks were not what the engineers at Can-Am were wanting us to focus on. Remember that these rigs are already heavy, and the tracks are adding to the conceived ability to remain on top of the snow. The brutal torque and power of this Rotax engine made short work of getting the tracks spinning and the drive was nothing less that amazing. Obviously, the tracks do take more energy to move and the power is a bit less responsive than we were used to but hearing the Rotax turbo come alive and launching the Maverick up and out of the snow never became tiring. The turning radius is significantly increased with these track’s and the fluffy powder did find its way onto the windshield several times due to the sheer width of the rig with tracks. However, the fact that a large machine like this could float across the hillside covered in an amount measure by “feet of snow” is a powerful statement in itself.

Can-Am Apache Backcountry Tracks First Look

Getting all of the factory systems to work together nicely is something that had to be considered and steering a big SXS like the Maverick X3 Xrs or even the Maverick X3 Xds, with tracks could be a handful without the help of Can-Ams Dynamic Power steering. The DPS is only set to help with tires though so Can-Am engineers developed an advanced DPS module. This plug and play unit corrects speed as well the odometer and it adds maximum performance to the Dynamic Power Steering on your SXS. This module simply plugs into the existing harness under the dash and with a quick check before takeoff the digital readout should indicate you are in “Track Mode.” Now you are ready to tackle the blinding white powder with little effort.

The Maverick X3’s were not the only vehicles on hand as the Defender HD10 and a Maverick Sport Max were also included in the fun. Both of these machines were equipped with the BackCountry LT tracks, giving us a few passes snow drift testing as well as a little different perspective out of the front windshield. The Can-Am Defender was a crowd favorite as the seating allows much more of a view across the front of the machine in the deep powder and the tracks are set back and seemingly lower so the snow flying in front of the glass was much less. One additional feature that we find extremely important now for this type of riding is the fact that both the Defender and the Maverick Sport Max had accessory heat installed. The Maverick X3’s did have heated seats which helped but there is no comparison to the actual heater option.

Can-Am Apache Backcountry Tracks First Look

The power in both the Defender and Maverick Sport Max was noticeably reduced but it did not seem to impair the rigs from getting up on the top of the snow and pulling along the trails we were on. Both of these machines gave spirited rides and the enjoyment of the ride was also very well received surprisingly, compared to the X3’s. It seemed the tracks did very well at their designed purpose, and it was us who had to slow down a bit to really appreciate it. To clarify that last comment, Hammering the impressive throttle of the Maverick X3’s left us with literal “Snow Blindness” as the powder just showered the entire machine anytime you turned the wheel. All things considered, the tracks did perform well on those big Mavericks and a slower pace did make for a better view out the front glass.

Lastly, we spent some time on the Can-Am Outlander 1000R with the all season tracks and then we were able to get on the Outlander 850 using the BackCountry track system to pull us along. Surprisingly, these were quite possibly the funnest machine’s with tracks. Being on an ATV in the snow is something oddly refreshing. Standing on the pegs of the ATV looking way out into the snow bound mountains in front of you is simply indescribable and even though the temperatures did seem to get quite chilly in the morning it was still very fun. Our afternoon exit on the quads was fabulous as well and out of the entire day this might have been the favorite. You are out in the wild back woods in deep powder and with the All-season track the Outlander did feel a little looser on the snow allowing for a bit easier turning. But it was very apparent when throttling up the 850 with the BackCountry snow track that you were really putting the power down to the surface. Again, floating on the top was made really easy and the ground clearance did get us over most of the clear-cut stumps under the powder. Now, finding our way through the trees was somewhat exciting but if I we could just free ride at least once or twice a year on these products, we are completely in on that one.

Our off-road vehicles are frequently subjected to intense use and conditions. Some original parts capitulate to excessive abuses and sooner or later, a replacement must be made. Among these, the CV joints are at the top of the list of parts needing to be tossed. If you’re going to do it, you might as well go with heavy-duty CV joints of superior quality.

The users who submit their ATVs or UTVs to tortures beyond the limits of the stock parts can now upgrade their CV joints with parts of higher quality. Rhino axles raise the established standards to a whole new level. They are made from very strong 4340 Chromoly steel which is one of the strongest materials in the industry. With an excellent strength/ weight ratio, these axles are designed for combat! They exceed expectations and offer performance that is not found in original axles or in the other aftermarket parts. Each CV joint and shaft are optimized for ultimate strength. Each joint is protected by a puncture-resistant TPE (thermoplastic polyester elastomer) boot. The Rhino brand axles leave no detail to chance – synthetic grease is used to keep them cold and well lubricated every time they have to be submitted to rough environments. Each axle is precision engineered to provide the ultimate balance of strength and durability.

Whether they are used with oversized tires, a set of tracks, on difficult terrain or on a power-boosted vehicle, they are designed to withstand the harshest conditions. Their angle of articulation is superior compared to original equipment. This feature combined with a set of suspension lift kit is also the perfect fit for tackling impossible obstacles and coming out of deep muddy holes.

The replacement of a CV joint by a higher quality axle assembly is possible with a few tools PARTand in a short time. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to complete this task. Here are the steps to perform this upgrade on your vehicle:

Replacing a rear-wheel CV joint on CFMOTO ZFORCE:

1- Raise your vehicle

Secure your vehicle on a level surface and lift it with a hydraulic jack. Consult your vehicle owner’s manual to find the right lift spots to properly lift your vehicle. Make sure you choose these locations on the frame.

Check again that the vehicle is in “P” mode (Park) and the parking brake is engaged before lifting. Then you will have to remove the real wheels.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

2- Remove the cotter pin from the axle nut

If your vehicle is equipped with a cotter pin that secures the axle nut, you will need to remove it. The pin looks like a hairpin with the ends bent to hold it in place. You will need to use pliers to straighten the two curved ends of the cotter pin before you can remove it. If the pin is stuck, try spraying a bit of penetrating lubricant. The lubricant should also help remove the axle nut.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

3- Remove the axle nut

Once the cotter pin is removed, you can remove the axle nut. Sometimes it takes a lot of force to loosen the nut. For this reason, the use of an impact power tool is recommended for this operation. In the event that your CV joint is damaged, request the assistance of a helper to apply the brakes while you accomplish this step; this would be very handy.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

4- Release the stabilizer bar

To facilitate the following steps, the stabilizer bar must be unbolted, this would allow the release of the upper triangular arm in a subsequent step.

5- Remove the wheel shaft support

The upper and lower bolts must be removed at this stage, as it will be possible to remove the axle by removing the support, the wheel hub, and the brake rotor.

6- Release the upper triangular arm

To facilitate the next steps, the use of a bungee cord to lift and secure the upper triangular arm is recommended. This would make more space to complete the following work.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

7- Remove the axle

Remove the CV joint end from the support and wheel hub, and then make sure the axle is horizontal and make a pushing motion and a slight twist towards the differential. You will feel a slackening and then you can proceed to its removal. It is normal that transmission fluid leaks when you remove the axle. You should prepare a suitable container for this.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

8- Insert the new axle into the differential

At the end of the CV joint, you will find a small C-clip. This clip holds the axle in place in the differential. To facilitate the insertion, we recommend the use of bearing grease to help retain the C-clip in place. Now insert the new axle at the same location in the differential. The tip end will slide fully in place until the axle is flush with the housing.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

9- Reinsert the axle in the support and the wheel hub

The new axle must be reinserted in the center of the hub assembly at the same location where you removed the original axle. Make sure the tip end is properly seated on the differential surface and check that the C-clip is well engaged by testing its strength with a slight pull test.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

10- Assemble of the upper and lower triangular arms

Reinstall the triangular arms to the wheel axle bracket using the previously removed bolts.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

11- Installation of the axle nut

Reinsert the nut and hand tighten. Then use the impact wrench to set it up.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

12- Install the cotter pin

The old cotter pin may be damaged, so you should replace it with a new one rather than reuse the old one. Insert the pin, and using a flathead screwdriver, separate the end. Finish separating the end of the pin using pliers.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

13- Put back the wheels

At this point, you can put the wheels back on the vehicle (the same way you would when changing tires). Once the wheels are in place, you can lower the vehicle from the jack.

SUPERATV Rhino CV Joints

Note: These steps may differ from one vehicle to another. When replacing a CV joint of a front wheel axle, the difference is in the fixing point of the wheel axle support: disassemble the ball joints and tie-rod.

Rhino CV joints are designed for use that will allow you to tackle obstacles and muddy holes with confidence. They also have the advantage of having a 1-year replacement warranty. Get your tools and enjoy sturdy CV joints that will be up to your hardest riding conditions.

If you intend on taking more than one off-road rig to the dirty woods, then you might find yourself running out of trailer space at some point. If the entire family goes out on an excursion, then you will most definitely need more room as the little tikes become bigger tikes and start getting their own machines.

Another thing that always gets an off-road rider down is that search for trailer parking in the local eatery or even at the hotel where we all fear that someone might just want our rig more than we do. Now obviously if you have a family rig set up for your team of pot lickers you might not be able to get away with just taking the truck and going solo. But if you are just a one woman/man band then a truck bed cover is the only solution for you.

How do you solve these problems without breaking your mind or wallet? Simple: Diamondback Bed Covers. As the school season progressed a tech-based marketing class (ENGR407) at Penn State would challenge students to come up with a project that the deemed to be a need and develop it to a point where they could then build a marketing program around it. That is just what Ethan Wendle and Matt Chverchko would do but not without a few challenges. Ethan had decided to go to Penn State and for business because his father was also a successful entrepreneur himself. Matt had actually decided to take a minute or two off from college to earn some money by working at the local Co-Op. They first met in the marketing class in 2002.

Matt, growing up hunting, had realized the need for some type of protection for the valuables left in the back of his Ford F-150 when a deer hunting tree stand had disappeared one evening. This spawned a desire in Matt to find some form of secure device to cover the bed of his truck. Unfortunately, at the time there were no real good options to protect anything in the bed that would also allow the use of the top of that same cover. “There were only vinyl or fiberglass covers available then” says Matt. Being a DIY type of guy, he set out to build his own cover. It was this cover that brought the two together and after pitching their idea, they actually won the challenge over the entire class.

Diamondback Bed Covers

This gave Ethan and Matt something to chew on from that point in their lives. Everyone knew that there was really something to this bed cover and it was this class project that gave these two their future. Ethan decided that it would be time to leave the college behind and for these two too pursue the dream of owning their own business. Matt was close to graduating and in his words, he had no prospects or job offers so the bed cover was the shining light in that moment. To solidify that decision the Diamond Back cover had also won best product overall at a design expo so it was off to the races from that point on.

Looking back at the start of Diamond Back Covers, many of the first products had been hand assembled in Matts home at the time. It was in the fall of 2003 that the dynamic duo decided to rent space in the Moshannon Valley Enterprise center just down the road from their homes. This would be the tipping point for Diamondback and Ethan says that watching the massive machines being lifted by crane into the building really solidified the fact that this had to work as there was no going back. As time rolled on and the company really began to grow economic history would bring about many changes and in the 2008 fiscal year Diamondback was no immune to the economic down turn. Luckily for all of us they did survive and in 2011 decided to start offering their products direct to consumer. Fast forward just a few more years to 2014 and the pair of entrepreneurs are well on the road to success with plans to build their own facility in the Phillipsburg Pennsylvania area. It was the desire to build a better mouse trap that gave this company its start but the backbone to the plan besides its founders, was to build a company that people wanted to and loved working for. This ingenious pair of college friends became what some would consider the brightest minds in the world simplistic yet very forward-thinking off-road toy hauling.

Diamondback Bed Covers

So, there you have a little history on the company that we trusted with our off-road vehicle hauling. Looking into the advantages of the Diamondback bed covers, we now realize just how important this tool is for us and how it allows our valuable space in the truck bed as well as on top of the bed cover to be transported without worry. Our very own truck has the ATVR cover installed. This means that we can haul our ATV anywhere we need to safely with all of our riding gear tucked neatly underneath.

Features of these incredible covers include Diamond Plate Aluminum construction. I am not an mind reader, nor have I even asked, but I bet this is where the name Diamondback might have come from. This tough surface gives traction to the tires when loading and with the black spray on liner applied it has maximum traction for those rainy days or mud filled tires. Speaking of loading, these bed covers come with some incredibly heavy-duty ramps that are 12ft in length. These folding ramps are strong enough for a UTV and feature a three-inch sidewall to keep the machine tracking straight up the ramp. This is a very good, confidence inspiring feature because loading an ATV onto the bed of a truck can be a little nerve racking to say the least.

Diamondback Bed Covers

If you look at the cover once installed, you will notice the round ramp rails mounted on the rear of the cover. Some also get mounted to the sides of the cover depending on the direction you plan to load the ATV or the type of bed cover you purchase. Some of these heavy-duty tops will allow you to load two ATV’s from the side. These rails are where the folding ramps lock on to prevent any ramp movement or slipping during the loading process, It is actually near impossibly to pull the ramp off of the cover if properly installed for loading. That is a huge confidence booster as well. I mean, who wants a ramp sliding around under you when loading on any style trailer or transport vehicle!

Installing the Diamond bed cover is pretty easy and for the first time around you might plan on about a two-hour job. The center section of these tops has to be clamped in place and then the front and rear wings (depending on the top you get) simply slide onto their perspective hinges and lay down. The top is then ready to be used.

Overall the story behind the product is an incredible one and very inspirational. Building a better mousetrap for a tree stand became a multi-million dollar company which is, in our humble opinion, the best product for the intended use by far.

Use of Can-Am vehicle specific mounting brackets to simplify initial track installation. The integrated design allows them to remain fitted while using wheels, making future installations as simple as changing a tire.

COVERED BY A 1-YEAR WARRANTY

DETAILS

TRACKS WHEELS & SLIDERS
The Backcountry track pattern is designed for optimal snow traction, without compromise.
The 2’’ lugs combined with the 3’’ pitch allow your vehicle to “float” over deep powder and
challenging terrain with class-leading traction.

The Backcountry and Backcountry LT use a combination of rubber over molded wheels
and a snowmobile-like slider system. This combination reduces rolling resistance, maximizing power transfer to the ground.

Apache Backcountry Tracks

FRAME ANTI-ROTATION ARM
The Backcountry system was designed for one purpose: to increase the contact patch.
Composed of a steel upper section that supports lower aluminum sliders, the snowmobile-like geometry offers unmatched weight distribution on snow.

Adjustable pre-loaded spring and multiple rubber dampers keep tracks securely in place and ensure your machine’s performance. Our unique system has been improved for better performance and control.

SPROCKET TENSIONER
The Backcountry and Backcountry LT use an external drive sprocket for slip-free power
transfer. Developed exclusively for Can-Am vehicles, it uses a 3’’ pitch for optimized performance in deep snow. The Backcountry and Backcountry LT use an easy to operate snowmobile type tensioner.

CAN-AM PROMOUNT STEEL PLOW KITS

These kits include: Can-Am ProMount Steel Blade, Push Frame with Quick-Attach System and Mounting Plate. The forward mounted push frame provides industry-leading lift height. Underbelly mounting plate provides the optimal angle of attack for best push strength. The low-profile mounting plate has little impact on ground clearance and can be left installed year round. In addition, the system allows you to create your own kit by choosing any plow type/length that you’d like for the push frame. ProMount Push Frames are compatible with all the blades.

CONNECTS WITH A CLICK

Attachable in four easy steps, the Can-Am ProMount plow system is the fastest, easiest way to start plowing and get the job done—minimal effort for maximum result.
1. Drive straight toward the plow.
2. Attach the winch cable to the plow using a guiding hook/roller.
3. Lift the plow until it clips onto the mounting plate.
4. Remove the winch cable from the guide. You’re ready to plow.

In an age where everything is miniaturized, some devices are more and more portable and, additionally, increasingly efficient. The evolution of cell phones throughout the years is the best example.
